UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Silver accolade
Our well established Shared Education Bangor Learning Partnership has recently grown to include the 4 Bangor schools with the participation of Glenlola Collegiate.
Shared Education has afforded us the opportunity to collaborate with our counterparts across the 4 schools to share resources and share the delivery of health and careers fairs.
The History department at St. Columbanus’ College and Bangor Academy have enjoyed funding for educational visits. The Amazing Space project via Co-Operation Ireland provided funding for our students to enjoy an overnight residential to Derry/ Londonderry.
Bangor Grammar and St. Columbanus’ collaborated remotely with Year 9s in respective schools to develop their use of Microsoft teams training through the ‘ Closer’ project collaboration between Mrs Sheridan’s Year 9 English class in 2022 and Mr Hart’s Year 9 Chemistry class in 2022.
Post-16 Senior Teams from all 4 schools gained access to an insightful Post-16 leadership training course facilitated by the Army preparing them for embarking on their Year 14 careers as Senior Leaders.
The 4 schools have participated in joint student council, meetings between the 4 schools. Where school community has been a focused and where there have been opportunities to share good practice, foster friendships and build a greater sense of community.
St. Columbanus’ have run many community events through the PTA such as a Christmas Craft Fair in 2022 and also welcoming their new Year 8 cohort with a school disco.
Through shared education students and staff have benefited from further development through the Teacher Professional Learning opportunities offered.
