All students study Home Economics throughout Key Stage 3 at St Columbanus’ College. The three areas of study in Home Economics are:

  1. Healthy Eating
  2. Home and Family Life
  3. Independent Living

Home Economics develops knowledge, understanding and skills and competences which help students improve their quality of life. At St Columbanus’ College, students are encouraged to think critically, make reasoned choices and manage changes in matters related to the home and family. Students are taught in an integrated way which incorporates both theory and practical experience thus providing students with relevant and realistic contexts in which to develop their skills for life.
