The Senior and Intermediate Down schools athletics competition took place yesterday 6TH May.
Steven Conlan competed in the long jump and the 100m. Steven came third in the long jump and is through to the Ulster finals. This is a great achievement because Steven was competing against yr 13 and 14 pupils.
Adam Mc Comb competed in the 400m. Adam won both his heat and final by a large margin. He is also through to the Ulster Final. Again this is a great achievement because Adam was competing against yr 13 and 14 pupils.
Danny Jordan was competing in the 3000m. Danny finished 4th and just narrowly missed out on getting through to the Ulster Final. Danny was competing against 4th and 5th year pupils. Next year Danny has a great chance at getting through to Ulster.
Ali Donelan competed in the 200m and finished 3rd in his heat, but he missed out at getting through to the final.
Lewis Force performed well at the long jump, but he also missed out at getting through to the final.
Some minor and junior pupils had to compete in the 800m heats on the same day as the senior and intermediate competition. These pupils were Sarah Keenan, Claire Grimley, Jordan Brickley, John Pritchard, Jack Carne, Sophie Cree and Gemma Doggert. All these pupils performed really well. Claire Grimley finished 4th and is now through to the final, which will take place on Wednesday 12th May.
